no you have to audition:]but if your really good they can ask you to be on the competition team

Do you mean your studio doesn't have a competition team? If that's what you mean and you want to compete just by yourself like in a solo, there are competitions that let independent dancers dance in it. you'd just have to search that.

You could it without them knowing, but wouldn't you rather pay private lessons with teachers you already have? Your teachers can also help you choose and prepare competitions.
