You can sprinkle some baking soda in the bottom this helps with orders or just before you run it  put couple of teaspoons of white vinegar in side too  actually helps clean and deodorize your dish washer

No dishes from my diswasher smell good. I would look in your owners manual for ideas. There are some cleaning products you can toss in an empty dishwasher to clean it but, your owners manual should tell you how to clean the dishwasher.

At worst, you can throw some baking soda in it and run it through a rinse cycle.

No.. mine smell clean. Is your dishwasher old? Have you ever washed it? There are places in dishwashers that mold can grow in.. so you might want to give it a thorough inspection and see if you can find anything. Food can get trapped in different spots in there. If you find nothing, possibly call a repairman or invest in a new dishwasher (if the warranty on yours is no longer good).
