  1. I guess it's possible. Usually your eye is pink just for a little while. But when you wake up with you eye crusted shut and have a lot of eye boogers that comes back very frequently its usually pink eye, but you might have some other eye infection that you might want to get checked out.

  2. It doesn't have to be pink.  It's really contagious though, so wash your hands frequently and avoid rubbing and touching your eyes.  The cure is simply to take some prescription drops.  If your eyes are that bad, it probably won't take long for an optometrist to diagnose it and send you on your way.  :)

  3. Pink eye is a condition called conjunctivitis.

    It is highly contagious.

And, no.  Your eye doesn't have to be red or pink.

    See a doctor.

  4. During pink eye, or conjunctivitis, it is very typical for your eye to turn pink, hence the coined term.  However, everybody's different, so keep that in mind.

You could have had some sort of irritant (i.e -- hair) in your eye during the night, which could be causing the pus.  Even if you do have pink eye, it's not serious.  Place something cold over it.  Sleep with a blindfold at night to prevent further irritation, and wash your pillow/pillowcase to eliminate any chance of getting it again.  Call a doctor in the morning.

    Feel better!

  5. Sounds like pink eye to me. Are you light sensitive? Another symptom of pink eye. You need to see a doctor for medication, it's only going to get worse the longer you wait.
