  1. Path of Life Christian Academy

    We also have a motto:

"You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."  Psalm 16:11

  2. Sciol na Fal, after the Irish hedge schools:

In 18th century Ireland Catholics were forbidden from teaching, and English government schools were intended to Anglicize the Irish by teaching in English rather than Irish.

The Irish who could afford the Hedgemaster's fee sent their children to Hedge Schools where Gaelic brehons, storytellers and musicians secretly taught Irish history, tradition, and told tales of the Irish children's ancestry. Popular history places these schools under ruined walls or in dry ditches by the roadside. Some lessons, no doubt, were taught in the shadow of a hedge while others were taught in barns.

I'm not  Catholic, I'm atheist, but I find the spririt of rebellion and dedication to learning of this story to be inspiring, and I think it fits the character of homeschooling.

Our motto is "Learning happens everywhere."

  3. Ours is Bodhi Tree Academy. We picked the name because that is the tree under which Gautama Buddha achieved enlightenment.

  4. [insert last name] homeschool

    boring right?

  5. We named it the name of our street with the word "Academy" after it.

I don't want to give you the real name cause you may come and visit and  we don't want any company right now. (smile)

  6. Compass Academy

I know there is an online school by that name too, but I didn't know that will way after I used the name for our homeschool. I mainly use it for filling out online forms and such.

  7. Our homeschool is Owls Nest Academy.

This name was chosen because our family likes owls (I collect them and I volunteer at the Center for Birds of Prey) and owls are thought to be wise according to popular legend.  A nest is representative of a home, and an academy is a place of learning-hence Owls Nest Academy.

  8. The <insert last name> Academy for Excellence

We've made up our own "school ID" cards and we've made diplomas or certificates for the kids at the end of each year and we use our "school name" on those.  I haven't had to use the name anywhere else yet, but have it ready just in case.  Anyway, it's a simple name but gets across the idea that we are hoping to bring out the best in our kids....

  9. When I was being home schooled we named ours "Fulton Field Academy" b/c my dad built our house in the middle of what used to be a cornfield, years ago. My friends' home schools have names like Truth-Light College Preparatory School or Solid Rock Academy. It's fun to come up with your own school name! Not many kids get to do that.

  10. Legally, no. But whenever I fill out forms for information and they say "list name of school" I just put "first name last name school" and our address.  Never had a problem getting anything that way.

  11. Earth

or sometimes colloquially referred to as "the world."
