Question:

Does your internet service get charged from Skype Calls?

Well, I just downloaded skype, because I wanted to make a long-distance call that I couldn't make on a normal phone because it is long-distance. And on Skyhpe it said you get one call free. So I only needed to call once, so I thought I'd try it. First I called the Skype Setup contact, but I hung up because I didn't need to set up anything. Then I dialed the number, and called. It didn't go through, because it said you need "Skype Credit" to make calls to ordinary phones. Oh well, so the free call didn't work. I dialed that number a few times more just to make sure, and it never went through. Will my internet service (Bell Sympatico) in any way get charged for those calls? They didn't even go through, cause I didn't have any Skype Credit. But does skype somehow charge your internet service at all?

  1. No, your ISP or you will not be charged for the attempts to make the Skype calls.

Here is another alternative for free PC-Phone calls:

    Try EarthCaller:  http://labs.jaduka.com/earthcaller

They are free calls to anywhere in USA/Canada from your PC.

No software to install.  It just installs a small Web Plug-in.

It calls from our web browser.

You just need a headset and mic.

It is totally free while in Beta development phase.

(and free means no money.... at all)

  2. only skype PC to PC is free! If you call a land-line or cellphone you have to buy credits first, then you can call!

no, skype does not charge your ISP.....

did you get it figured out?????
