Do you think that ur religion overrides ur personality? Do you think you would be a different person if not for ur religion?

For eg, would you have had s*x before marriage if u werent a devout christian/jw/muslim,etc?

  1. I am a German pagan and I like my bacon! That's mostly a joke. No, it doesn't. Though I have considered running around turning crosses upside-down. Perhaps I have some Swiss or Norwegian in me.

  2. No, it's life what has tought me how I'm, what I want, what I like plus my own experiences and their consecuences, however what I keep from religion in general and kind of guide my life : the 10 commandments, I'd not kill someone,or steal anything,etc things like that...but anyone with a full sense of reality and respect for the law would probably do the same thing.

  3. God defines us all by determining in us - each desire  we desire, and each choice we choose, and each effort we make, all of which go into the definition of what personal history or experience we then accumulate...

    So our whole definition with its trusts and distrusts is defined and determined by God - our religion and our irreligiousness...

  4. Quran Ch : 8 verse 2,3 ,4

    2.   The believers are only those who, when Allâh is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Qur'ân) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone);

    3.   Who perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât) and spend out of that We have provided them.

    4.   It is they who are the believers in truth. For them are grades of dignity with their Lord, and Forgiveness and a generous provision (Paradise).

    Quran Ch : 33 verse 35

    35.   Verily, the Muslims (those who submit to Allâh in Islâm) men and women, the believers men and women (who believe in Islâmic Monotheism), the men and the women who are obedient (to Allâh), the men and women who are truthful (in their speech and deeds), the men and the women who are patient (in performing all the duties which Allâh has ordered and in abstaining from all that Allâh has forbidden), the men and the women who are humble (before their Lord Allâh), the men and the women who give Sadaqât (i.e. Zakât, and alms), the men and the women who observe Saum (fast) (the obligatory fasting during the month of Ramadân, and the optional Nawâfil fasting), the men and the women who guard their chastity (from illegal sexual acts) and the men and the women who remember Allâh much with their hearts and tongues. Allâh has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise).

  5. I'm Wiccan but few people guess that about me, if you look close you can tell. I've always been very spiritual rather than religious, with a deep love for nature. It's a very open-minded religion so it has always suited me well.

  6. I was an atheist for 18 years before I converted to heathenry/ Asatru and it has indeed changed me a lot. I changed from doing things minimally to doing things the best I could, I now think of my friends/ family and community before I think of myself. I am a better man now, but I still have a while to go.

    I'm not saying you can't be/ do any of those things without religion, just that it helped me.

  7. No Ma'am.  I define me.  I define me because of my religious upbringing and the trial and tribulations I went through just because of it.

  8. It's a part of me and my morals are based on it. However I think because I didn't become a christian until I was 17, it doesn't "define me" and the people I hang out with, see me as me not "cat the christian" because I was doing unchristian stuff when I first met them.

    I.e I had already lost my virginity, started drinking, shacked up with my boyfriend and then I became a christian. Things have changed slightly, i'm still living with my boyfriend. I don't drink as much as am not as vulgar or crude. So I think they see and bit of me and a bit of the new me.

  9. I don't think the "YOU" should be capitalized.  I think that some people out of envy spend to much time worrying about others.
