  1. No, maybe you got a bad package that some bugs made its home in it. Was it alive or dead?

All I know is that when these tons of rice gets bagged at the packing company when its packaged they get a spray of co2 before its sealed to kill any bug that maybe trapped its displaces the air & kills the bugs.

Best to rinse the rice once to see any dead floating bugs. Then use the rice. Those dead bugs are harmless.

  2. Clean your pantry, also take the box back to store & complain to the mgr.

  3. Those bugs are often larvae of the Meditteranean Pantry Moth.  They lay eggs in dry goods, rice, flour, cake mixes, bird seed etc.  Take a look around your grocery store during the warm months.  If you see these tiny little fluttering greyish brown moths, especially in the dry goods aisle, it's more than likely the store has an infestation.  I ended up bringing these into my home and I haven't been able to get rid of them.  They lay eggs throughout dry stuff in your pantry closet.  Those eggs go dormant during the winter but they hatch in the spring or summer.  Sometimes, you'll open up something and you'll see what looks like spider webbing and and empty rice kernal.  That's the eggs hatching.

I talked to the grocery store manager where I saw the moths, (and not just the grocery store, I've seen them at W**mart) and asked him how I was supposed to get rid of them when he keeps selling them to me.  He told me that  when I figured out a way to get rid of them to let him know.

    I'd toss it.

  4. ya thats perfectly fine

  5. i hate riceoroni, anything that they called ___ eroni isnt right. i had ceareal with bugs in it once.

  6. either you or your store may have a bug problem..

YOU most likely.. the store has Orkin or Terminex even a handy man to sanitize  like it or not

the cardboard box is not sealed

and just rinsing the product may not remove eggs laid on the rice or pasta..

If it is you ,,that means you must examine ever grain or dry cereal that may attract such moths and gnats what ever...

then any new products are stored in air tight cans or plastic ware..

even in the refrigerator..freezer if need be..

this makes me wonder how the organic"s (??) would handle an infestation..???/☺ ☺

  7. Any grain or meal item can have bugs in it. One bad package can infest a lot of others and so it spreads. I think the bug is some sort of grain weevil. I've taken to storing all my flour, rice and pasta in my freezer unless I'm going to use in within just a few days. Freezing will prevent their eggs from hatching if they are there and kill the weevils if they've already hatched.

    Good luck, I sympathize.
