Does ㅔ and ㅐ sound the same?

ㅔ sounds like  e as in egg, and net.

ㅐ sounds like  a as in apple, and cat.

They sound very similar but you have to listen closely if you have trouble hearing the difference.

ㅔsounds like the "e" in "red"

ㅐsounds like the "ea" part in "bear"

It's kind of hard to explain- it's really easier to tell by mouth movement.

ㅐis like "eh"- typical english "eh" sound like "red"

ㅔis tougher.  Think of it like trying to say "eh" but with your mouth open and the corners of your mouth drawn forward- almost shaped it's about to say "O' or "oo".  That's not exactly it, but it's as close as I can explain.

phonically it's same. you just need to know when to spell what...

for example in english you have "mention" and "mansion", ***"tion" and ***sion", they sound the same but spelling is different...

there is a subtle difference, but it will be extremely difficult for a foreigner to make the distinction between the two.

don't worry; they pretty much sound the same.
