Doesanyone have any recommendations for a very light and durable shaft?

  1. You have to get fitted to get the right shaft for your club.

    Can't just pick a shaft because it's cheap and light.

    Things to consider:

    Flex: Get flex according to your swing speed not just because the others use it.

    Bend-point:  low bend-point means high trajectory, high bend-point means low trajectory

    Torque:  If you are a powerful swinger, get torque below 3.5, if you are a normal swinger, get torque around 4 to 4.7.

  3. Aluminum is deffinitely light enough, but I would need more information on what the shaft is for as to tell you if it was durable enough.  If its putting alot of pressure on it you might just stick with steel.

  4. For most golfers, steel is really a great way to go.  It is reasonably light, and strong.  In my experience, it is also more forgiving than graphite.  If you are a really good golfer, then graphite may be worth the money.  I do like graphite for woods, but for irons, steel is just fine and dandy IMHO.
