Question:

Doesn’t global warming mean a WETTER rather than a drier world?

I’m as green as Kermit the Frog, and I do think the evidence for global warming is overwhelming. What I don’t understand is why so many seem to think that such warming means more drought. Surely more warming means more heat on the oceans, which means more evaporation, which means more rain, which means a WETTER world?

  1. Overall, you would expect a wetter world as a warmer planet would mean more water evaporation and the atmosphere can hold more moisture.

More water in the atmosphere also creates a positive feedback mechanism to make global warming worse in that water vapor is also a greenhouse gas - higher temperature mean more evaporation mean more water vapor means higher temperatures.

  2. global warming isnt real. its a gimmic. think about how much money people raise for it. the world goes in cycles. think about what would happen if last time there was an ice age every one thought they would solve it... everyone would have gotten poor for no reason.

  3. Frogs are very sensitive to climate change so you have a right to be concerned, as we all do.

Worldwide,  major weather patterns will change and there are indications they are changing now. Research is under way on this by climatologists and others, including NASA, and the last resuts I saw suggest a marked change is already underway with increased precipitation in northern and temperate latitudes and less precipitation in tropical and some sub- tropical latitudes, generally speaking.. There is still much work to be done as the  differential effects of ocean  warming and currents, and other variables, are still not fully understood, so forecasts remain tentative and will continue to be refined.  Just keep abreast of the reputable science.

  4. history says wetter

those that don't study history are bound to get it wrong every time.

  5. yes and less land and more salt water and as weather paterns change more drought in certain areas and warmer and wetter in others, radical changing weather parterns.
