Think about it. 20 years from now , machines will probably be smarter than Humans. Then what ?

Then there's cars that drive on their own

And soon , people will be cloning dead people and dead animals.

And probably by the mid 21st century , so one will invent a time machine. And travel back in time to s***w things up.

The future frightens me. Does it frighten you ?

  1. I don't really think machines will take over the world, but the future does frighten me a bit, i think because we never know what's going to happen. what's funny is i'm always skeptical of new inventions and i'm not really into the whole 'hi-tech' lifestyle, but obviously thats where we're heading....

  2. I have to admit I'm a little nervous (excited too, though) about the prospects of new technology; I was just reading a book on robotics yesterday (admittedly, it was a kiddie book... but it had loads of interesting info) and I couldn't help thinking of Terminator-style or Space Odyssey-type endings. The book spoke of robots that could mimic human emotions, recognize faces, and even serve alcoholic drinks.

However, I don't think we'd ever be able to create machines smarter than us; they can only process information that has already been programmed into them. I don't think machines have the ability to gain information on their own; they certainly aren't capable of independent thought. (I also don't think it would be possible to create a time machine, although the subject of time travel does make for great fiction.)

A more realistic concern with the advance of new technology, however, would be the loss of jobs. Even now many jobs normally run by humans have been replaced with machines-- but often the benefits exceed the costs. For example, we're now able to send machines into highly dangerous environments to perform risky jobs such as defusing bombs and search-and-rescue expeditions. I guess it depends on how you're willing to look at it.

  3. It's not new technology until it actually happens; until then, it is science fiction.

and no, it doesn't frighten me

Intellegent machines have been "twenty years in the future" for about half a century.

Airplanes have had auto pilot for a long time, but we still need a human in there and I expect it will be the same for cars

cloning is more difficult, more expensive, and less fun than the traditional method.

And, time travel will almost definitely remain science fiction.

  4. Yes, it scares me too.  I often think of the Orwell book 1984 and think there will be no privacy anymore in the future.  Someone will always be watching you.

  5. Imagine what a person might have thought about today, who lived a hundred years ago!  You have an intelligent question, and my honest answer is that we can be hurt as a community of people if we don't carry our morals with us into the future. Where do we get our morals? From the Bible.

As long as people feel that "everything's ok to do," eroding our morals, then you have reason to be afraid. If there is a resurgence of morality and faith -- as people predict is happening these days -- then the future will be a wonderful time!

  6. I do not believe that a time machine can ever be invented. No matter how smart we become. And I also doubt about cloning, maybe only really rich people will be cloned other then that no, the world is already over populated and it would probably cost a fortune. I am not scared of new technology, the only thing I dislike about new technology is we have less privacy, and it will just get worse.

  7. some machines are already smarter than humans, some computers can sold advanced arithmetic in a matter of seconds.

    Drunk drivers frighten me more.

hey that be cool to see and be able to talk to abraham lincoln.

I look forward to the future.

  8. The Future is not frightening to me because I am not given the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (II Timothy 1:7)

We have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but we have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (Romans 8:15)

There is no fear in love; perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. (I John 4:18)

Almighty God has all Time; past present, and future in the palm of His Hand. Technology has always been used for good, and evil, and shall be again. The very technology we would use to keep track of out Children, the Anti Christ will use to control the masses. But why fear it ?  It ....shall not come nigh thy dwelling....(Psalm 91:10)

Fear not ! God has everything under His control !
