Doesn't it annoy you when a handicapper like Borderlescott wins a Group 1 race such as the Nunthorpe?

He couldn't win a listed race, yet turns up today to nab a Group 1 at Newmarket!

It devalues the race.

  1. Yep but dont forget rooster booster was a Handicapper and went on to land some great races.

  2. Seems you want to take all the fun out of betting.

  3. Yes Sir Alan, especially when I backed him LTO in the Stewards Cup when he ran 3rd to Conquest. The ground today was very soft, he had a favoured high draw, the pace was fast and everything went in his favour.

I backed Sakhees Secret who trailed in about 45 lengths last and was reported to have pulled muscles, but what really annoyed me was that Emma Spencer interviewed Hughie Morrison just before the race and he said that Sakhees Secret had returned a strange blood test after coming in last at Ascot LTO (they reported he lost a shoe that day) and that he wasn't on top form today.  After that Sakhees Secret's odds went straight out to 8-1 and the rest is history.  Obviously there is something seriously wrong with the horse and Hughie Morrison should never have run him.  He was about to withdraw him at York because of the ground and then the venue was cancelled, he just got left in and they left him there to take his chances, totally unfair on the horse and the punters.

Off to Newmarket tomorrow to see the clash between Duke of Marmalade and New Approach, I'm going for the 2/1 on New Approach as DOM is 8/11 and there's no value and on the July Course anything can happen. Papul Bull got very close to beating him last time out but looked him in the eye and the Duke fought back and won, its going to be tactical and very exciting...can't wait....good luck Sir Alan..keep in touch..Jacqui x

  4. Yes yes yes!

Its equally annoying when you look at the paper in the morning then decide against betting against the thing!

  5. correct

  6. I like this horse hes very consistent. What I would say is there is not as big a difference between listed and G1 sprints as in mile and above races for example.

  7. Yes but he always runs a good race,,and deserved the win i was on ,,,

  8. As they say - that's racing.  Tis equally annoying when a horse that should be in the front three finishes plumb last ! I didn't see the race as working, but any idea what happened to Sakhees Secret? Something must have gone terribly wrong.

The real gutter 18 months ago I had Borderlescott in my Tote Ten To Follow.!

OK got it - Sakhees Secret ripped his back muscles leaving the stalls - guess thats how top class handicappers win Group races !
