Question:

Doesn't it say somewhere in the Bible that there can't be peace on earth right now?

I thought I read a verse or two that says it's impossible to have peace among us right now (not talking about the new earth). Is there? Please, no "There is no God" c**p on here. Just looking for a quick answer.

  1. Christ said he didn't come to bring peace, but division.

    Does that help?

  2. Mat 10:34 ¶ Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Mat 10:35  For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Mat 10:36  And a man's foes [shall be] they of his own household.

Mat 10:37  He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Mat 10:38  And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

Mat 10:39  He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Mat 10:40 ¶ He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

  3. This is what Jesus tells us:

(Matthew 10:34) - "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35"For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household."

(Luke 12:51) - "Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division; 52for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two, and two against three..."

This is what the Bible says about the Anti-Christ:

(Daniel 8:25) And through his policies he will cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many

There will only be peace after the Great Tribulation when Jesus takes over.

  4. No, the bible doesn't say that anywhere.

  5. Isaiah 57

2 For those who follow godly paths

will rest in peace when they die.
