Studies show that the EU and the US will have a major Labor shortage if they don't increase Immigration Quotas...

Due to rapidly decreasing birth rates.

Which would have a devastating effect on the Economy, Pensions and Prosperity of the Nation.

Big countries like China and India will overtake the west otherwise......More Immigrants....before it's too late.

EU n US need more Immigrants....

  1. Either that, or encourage women to have more children.

It's much easier just to bring in immigrants, though.  What government wants to fund daycare programs, baby bonuses, and well-funded maternity and paternity leave programs?

  2. Thats not necessarily true.  While it may seem that we have a labor shortage, unemployment in the US and EU has remained steady at roughly 5% for the past near decade.  Birthy rates arent rapidly decreasing either, they also have been steadily decreasing for decades.  It is well known that heavily industrialized nations tend to have lower birth rates.  Ask China or India in 20-30 years what their birth rates are going to be like....probably the same as ours now.  If not, then they run the exact opposite risk of overburdening their governmental system in terms of healthcare, social security (if they have any), and other needs.  You simply reach a point where it is no longer viable to sustain that many people, something that China is already running into.

The devastation to the economy from a labor shortage, if there was one, would not really effect pensions either.  Typically, when there is a labor shortage, the wages and additional benefits (like pensions) tend to increase.  We as Americans could see this as a benefit.  Besides, we live in a capitalist system, supply and demand rule, if we desperately need more people, I am sure we would have no problem finding them.  We dont need more immigrants, we are handling ourselves fine.  What we do need is immigrants who are willing to participate in the democratic system, that are willing to pay taxes on their wages, who dont soak up all the social resources available because they are free.  We need people just as hard working as the rest of us, not more off the ones we already have.
