to be a better person? I just love that there is a time every 4 yrs in which countries are able to unite & push their differences aside to compete. If only it could be like this all the time w/out war & issues aside.

  1. While I am a proud and patriotic American, I love to see the "smaller" countries do well. India, hardly a "small country", just won it's first ever solo gold medal. The fuss being made is really heart warming!

For so much of the world, the Olympics are just about their only time to shine on the international stage. My favorite part of the opening ceremony is always the "Parade of Nations". For one brief, shining moment every four years the nations of the world can compete in the sporting arena and not on the battlefield!

  2. Yes.  But tell your fellow fans to stop putting down the Chinese.  It's getting tiresome and ridiculous.  On a lighter note, good luck to the U.S.

  3. i know!

i love the olympics. they are amazing!

  4. Not any more-since they let pros play it is just another sports event.

  5. Not to be a better person but to be a better athlete. I especially get inspired by that Nike comercial and it has the song where its like "i got soul but im not a souldeir" lolThat inspires me!!

    I hope i helped!!

  6. I agree completely. I am moved to tears nearly every time the national anthem is played for our athletes. It is the culmination of all their hard work. I am so proud of each of our athletes and excited to see so many athletes from my state(Washington).

  7. i totally agree :) I LOVE THE OLYMPICS!

ive been watching non-stop since they started

  8. i agree with u

  9. Nope.

  10. I LOVE THE OLYMPICS!!! The whole thing make me feel good inside. The thought of all the countries in the world coming together and competing not only for medals but honor for their countrie. The fact that it only comes every olympiad makes it even better becuase you have something to look forward to and anticipate. The spectacularity of it all just overwhelms me. The thought that the Olympics might have a chance of coming to my city, Chicago in 2016 makes my head spin. Listening to the NBC Olympics theme make me cry, its so inspriing!! Its gonna be a sad day when its over. Beijing had to be the best Olympics in the history of the games. The culture and people of the chosen host country is always incredible. I hope i get an opportunity to travel and visit them all.

  11. Haha and then the French are like "we will smash the Americans!"

I'm not too sure that improves our relationship with them...

  12. Yes, it does inspire me. I think the the men's gymnastics team inspired me the most, people may have doubts about you but you can overcome ANY obstacles that God throws at you. As long as you keep faith in him you can get through it.

  13. You cannot be serious

    It's a competition

A huge, steroid filled "I-am-better-than-you" contest

    D:

  14. Yeah, I guess it does inspire me.

Makes me more inspired to improve my own health/physical shape.  Kind of like..."Wow, if they can do all THAT, then I can lay off the McDonald's and take an extra brisk walk around the block a couple times a day!"  LOL

  15. I LOVE THE OLYMPICS.

    I'd also like to add:

  19. Yes!  Usually the narrators annoy me, but when they tell little personal stories about the athletes it really brings the whole Olympic ideal into focus.

  20. Not to be a better person but definitely to want to work out or continue in whatever sport i happen to be doing at the time.

It also gives me dreams of going to the Olympics someday or that i can obtain that goal i am after.

I think four years is a little much of a time gap.

    Every two would be nice.

The gymnastics seems to upset me every year.

    I cannot fathom the scoring.

  21. Thank you. My best friend is from Canada and was talking about how she was boycotting the Olympics. I honestly got so pissed i didn't talk to her for the whole weekend. This is one of the most inspiring events that ever takes place. I'm really into my school's speech and debate team and i realized it was nothing compared to what this is. When micheal Phelps won the 4x1, it was so amazing i cried :) I'm so proud of all the American athletes because they are so amazing win or lose!!!

  22. yah i agree

but it just sucks when everyone is calling all this controversy and giving china all this bad rap. *sigh*
