  1. gather the stool in a poo-bag, and save it for the vet.

Then I would make up some rice as meals for the rest of the day, and see if the poo improves. If it improves within that day, then I will probably wait to take him/her to the vet...if it doesn't, then I will call the vet and make an appointment for the soonest available time.

  2. Depends on the amount of blood.

If it's just a small amount, on the outside of the poo, and she had been straining to poo, then I would keep an eye on her to see if it got any worse, it would most likely be just a broken blood vessel in the a**s from straining and would rectify itself. if it got any worse then I would see the vet.

If it's a larger amount or is dripping from her bottom then I would get her to the vets straight away. Any amount of blood large than a small fleck is not a good sign and needs to be checked.

I would think it's just common sense that bleeding from the bottom is not a good sign, and needs investigating.

  3. At least call the vet.  If it is hemorrhaging out of it's behind, I think I'll take the time to ask the general uneducated public on Y!A what I should do.  OH wait no wrong answer, I go to the vet as fast as my car will carry me!

  4. I know what you mean, the answers aren't gonna change even if your dog's name is Jimmy and not Yappy from the question asked 5 minutes ago.

  5. take it to the vet.  the sooner the better especially if there is a lot.

  6. You scared me there!

Well, do what everyone else does... have a little cruise on the computer and wait for a "home remedy."

  7. If my dog was bleeding the first thing I would do is take her to the vet.

Esp in the stool, you never know what it is. It could be internal bleeding it could be Parvo, or an infection. You just never know and unless you are vet yourself, you shouldn't diagnose your own dog or expect someone on here to diagnose your dog. They cant see your dogs f***s and they cant put their hands on your dog. So to the VET they should go.

I take my Dog to the VET immediately.

  8. Call the vet and tell them what's going on. They will most likely want a sample so they can run a test.

  9. Hmmmm. Let me see......First, I wait for a few days to see if it gets better. Then, I come onto Yahoo! Answers and ask everyone in here what could be wrong and then say I don't have the money for a vet.

  10. Go an Yahoo! Answers and ask the "vets" there!

Then tell everybody they're mean, you're only 12 and you don't have money for the vet.

  11. Grab a sample of the stool...

put the harness on my dog

    put him in the car

    drive to the vet

wait for stool to be sampled and talk to vet if needed

  12. take it to the vet?

  13. At least make a call to the vet right away. They know the right questions to ask and depending on your answers will tell you what to do next. Myself I would not wait to make that call.

  14. [Millypee, was "rectify" a pun? :) ]

Yes, call the vet and describe the problem thoroughly.  How much p**p, how much blood, was the dog straining or was there diarrhea, etc.  Then follow their advice.
