Today i robber came into my house using the back door. My german shepherd was downstairs at the time and attacked him. The robber got away before my dog could really hurt him. However there was ALOT of blood on the floor. Is my dogs life at risk? Or will he be okay considering he attacked a stranger in my home.

Thanks

  1. Is your dog hurt ?  I hope not.  He should be ok.  I hope you reported the break in to the police.  I am pretty sure it is not against the law for your dog to attack an intruder in the home people do have dogs for protection.  If it was a friend, repairman family, girl scout selling cookies ect.... then you could have some serious problems.

  2. The guy tried to rob your home your dog had every right to help you protect your home. The dog is in no danger. The robber got what he deserved.

  3.   I have heard of a robber getting stuck in someones garage , when the owner was away on vaction,  the robber sued the guy, because he was without food, or a week?  Robber of course won.

It might realy depend on the judge,  I heard of cases like this, were the dog was put down, because the robber thought the dog had rabies, and refused to get the shots.  and there was a different case were the dog was saved because the guy didn't sue (so he didn't get caught with attempting a robbery.

if i was you,  I might contact local police and take pictures of the scene,  that way if the robber does sue, you have some evidence.

i'd like to hear what happens,if you are willing to say.

I don't know if this helped any :S

                                       Good luck

  4. relax, it was just protecting u

  5. Since your dog attacked in defence (the robber might have intended to hurt you or your family), I doubt that there will be any trouble. And since the robber was trespassing, whether or not he was going to steal from you, what he did was ILLEGAL, so he doesn't have a case against you.

  6. I'm not sure what you are asking, but I think you might be concerned about your dog actually having been in contact with some stranger's blood.  If you are very worried, I would take him to the vet just to be on the safe side.  On the other hand...YOUR DOG IS COOL!!! Too bad for the robber.

  7. I am currently going through the same situations.  Someone broke into my home and my three dogs attack.  I have an American Bulldog/Pit mix that knocked the guy down and my two smaller dogs bit him.  The guy first tried to claim the our Pit mix bit him, but when the bite wounds didn'tt add up he then tried to sue us for the two smaller dogs.  Luckily, this guy had a record and we also had our alarm set so we have a record with the alarm company as to when he broke in.  So now he is stalling and trying to come up with a great excuse as to why he was in our home.  Worse comes to worse this guy is going to rack up a huge Atty bill and will have to pay for it, or the insurance company will settle and pay his Atty bill for him to just leave us alone.
