are there different types of dog growls? do they mean different things? my dog has a growl for playing, growling at other dogs, and ,sometimes , when you are petting him, he has a squeaky growl that doesn't really sound like the other ones. does it mean something different, or does it mean he is about to bark? my mom thinks it means he loves us, but i am not sure. What do you think?

  1. there are different types of barks for stuff and mine you can tell when he suspects something out side and its not good and when hes playing and messing around and barking for fun. you Have ot listen to your dog.

  2. your dog is talking to you. just listen to what it is saying. they also talk trough body language so watch his eyes, ears, tail and paws too. it comes from when all dogs where wild, like wolves.

  3. usually all the higher sounding noises, whether it's growling or barking, mean play. but a low growl and deep bark are usually warnings.

  4. Well for playing..

    It's a playful growl..

    Doesn't really mean anything..

    For other dogs..

He may not like that perticular dog.

And for when you are petting him..

It either means your petting a GOOD place..

or a place where it hurts.

But that's kind of how all dogs are.

And of course your dog loves you.

  5. Yes their are many different sounds a dog can make.It might be trying to tell u something. You should look for a page that shows you what your dog is saying.(it might be saying i am tired or i love you,or i wanna play,or i don`t wanna eat my vegges!!!!
