Dog bite? Gf bitten by a dog today.

My gf was bitten by a dog today, and although the skin has not broken she feels bruising at her veins that run from her hand to her middle finger. She also feels pins and needles at the end of fingers and has trouble moving her fingers, and there is a bubble (not like a blister), can this be a serious problem? Any links with information would be good too.

  1. It could have damaged her tendons?

You really should take her to the ER

  2. i doubt there's much to worry about but take it to the doctors first thing

if it didn't break the skin then it cant be too serious, just probably a bruise in an awkward place

  3. It might be critical; it's wise to go see a doctor.

  4. A few things I thought of -

    Nerve damage

    A burst blood vessel

Carpal tunnel (not necessarily the direct result of a bite, but if she's had carpal tunnel problems before a bite could make her sore)

Take her to a hospital or clinic. Even if the dog didn't break the skin, the force of the bite may have been enough to cause internal bruising.

  5. shes a wimp. call a doctor, not here.

  6. If i were you i would take her to the Emergency Room. Let the professionals take care of it.

  7. Hope I don't sound heartless by not saying "Get her to the ER!" But it doesn't sound too serious. Try an icepack on the area, maybe a couple Tylenol. If it feels the same tomorrow, have her call her doctor. Doesn't sound like a big enough issue to have to run to the ER. Probably just some bruising.
