  1. Great Dane or an Irish Wolfhound. They are both known as "gentle giants."

    great dane info: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/greatdane.ht...

    irish wolfhound info: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/irishwolfhou...

  2. Go to www.dogbreedinfo.com.

Take the brief questionaire.  You need to consider things like - how much room the dog will have to roam?  how long of a life do you want the dog to live?  how much time will you spend with the dog every day?  Etc.

There are a lot of questions beyond what breed looks cutest or is easiest to train.  The breed that is the easiest for you to train is the breed that best fits your lifestyle.

I have owned German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Huskies, Border Collies and numerous mutts.  They all have their advantages and frankly, the easiest to train was the Husky.  They are also the poorest dogs for protection.  A German Shepherd is a good compromise however many insurance companies in the USA won't insure your house if you own a Shepherd as they are considered "high risk" dogs.  As are Chows and Pitt Bulls.

    Good luck.

  3. i would say german shepherd or rottweiler make sure they get plenty of socialization as a puppy though or you won't get a protective dog you'll get a crazy dog that is extremely aggressive towards people dogs children and possibly even you. both of those breed are a deterrent just by the look of them. definitely do research on the puppy's breed-lines so you get a healthy breed

  4. Old English Mastiff

    Rhodesian Ridgeback

    Rescue a Great Dane

Labador (but everyone seems to have them)

    Giant Schnauzer

  5. get a Boerboel. They are pure dogs. They love their families and are sweet however protective. They can cost up to $2000. They can get up to around 180 lbs.

Your next choice would be a German Rottweiler. Now these beast get up to 180lbs also. They are freakin huge, and full of muscle.

If "Money Ain't A Thang" then get the Boetboel. Trust me you wont be disappointed

  6. German Shepherd

    Rottweiler

    umm...Mastiff

yep. thats all I can think of.

  8. I say an akita, they were born protectors of children, and from my experience (having owned 5 of them) rather easy to train. I would say a chow chow dog because of their protective personalities, but they are rather stubborn for training. Truly, no dog is "easy" to train, it is how well you are capable of doing it. Both the breeds that I suggested are single family oriented, so are naturally more weary of outsiders, so socialization is required, as with all dogs as not to produce vicious dogs. All dogs can with training be protective, it's just a matter of what kind you want and the training/abilities from the pet parent.

  9. siberian husky or dobermans.  Very intelligent and protective dogs.

  10. rottewelier. i have 2. love them! they are great with kids and elderly.  they also are attached to owner and scares others so no one will be getting in your house.

  11. St. Bernard, Dobie, Rottie, Golden Retriever, Collie, Great Dane, Mastiff.

Or you can take this quiz, to find out what dog breed would be best for you. :)

    Good luck! http://dogtime.com/matchup/start

  12. Go to AKC.org & browse the breeds. No one said Bullmastif, so you might check out that one. Very sweet & smart breed.

Also Samoyed, Portuguese Water Dog, Bernese Mountain Dog, Malamute.

    Good luck!

  13. A Great-Dane dog will be good for your needs.
