Dog cant p**p. what can we do?

we took the dog to vet friday. xrays show hes blocked but it should come out because its gone past small intestine. he was given 3 enemas over the past fee days and still nothing. any ideas. other wse h**l need surgery which could be very expensive!shoyuuld i try pumpkin? or cod liver oil?

Well at this point in time I would say that the vet knows best. An intestinal blockage could seriously harm or kill your dog and giving him foods to try and induce a bowel movement could make things much worse. If the vet says he needs surgery than the dog needs surgery. It is just a prime example that expensive unexpected vet bills can come out of nowhere. I went through a similar situation in the past and it was very difficult financially. I learned from my mistake and my dogs now have their own savings account for any unexpected illnesses that may arise.

Next time he poops, wipe after him like people do to prevent the blocking. It's gross, I know, but it's better than paying huge amounts of money!

There is some stuff called Laxatone that you can get through vets that might help.  It helped our Papillon after she had to have surgery for prolapsed bowel as a puppy.  She's doing great now a few months later.

Natural remedies that I know of are mixing canned pure pumpkin (NOT the spiced mixture) with your dogs food, or adding olive oil.  Either should produce a bowel movement within 24 hours.  If not, another vet visit is in order.

even though he doesnt have worms...try an over the counter wormer..its has a laxative in it that helps them have bowel movements.

wat you can o is lubricate his butt and and u stick a match up his but n it gives him a sensation that he need to c**p n he does .

i know that cause use to show dogs n people will do that for dogs to take a c**p be for interring the ring cause if the c**p in the ring they are disqualified
