Question:

Dog chewed through cord on pool filter?

My Dog chewed the cord to my pool's filter system. He completely detached the plug-in part from the cord. The rest of the filter and cord is undamaged. I really hate to buy an entire new filter because of a cord. Can I fix this in any way? BTW, the filter was not plugged in when the chewing occured, and the dog is not harmed. He is no longer allowed in the yard that has the pool.

  1. the electrial cord can be replaced

  2. Sometimes it is hard to change the entire cord, depending on your

filter. You can purchase a new end for the cord if it is long enough.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Bring the broken cord to a local hardware store and ask for a replacement. Then all you need is a screwdriver or a nutdriver and some determination. Remember to lay your screws in a row in the order you remove them, then you can just reverse the order to re-assemble it!

  4. Anne: Your best option will be to replace the cord which will involve some work and little bit of electrical knowledge. Some would  buy new a new plug,  and heat shrink tubing from radio shack, cut out all breaks in cord, wire them back together, on each individual wire, slip shrink tubing over the splices and heat with hair dryer the shrink cable will shrink making   tight connection and wrap each connection with electrical tape.  I would not recommend this option.

    Good Luck
