Question:

Dog food killing my dog?!?!?

I have heard a lot of news articles about commercial pet foods being the cause of over 80% dogs deaths. My family or I are busy and we were wondering if anyone knew commercial SAFE dog food so we didn't have to cook it ourselves. Or do you think that cooking the food is better? If so, if you know any sites where they give good natural balanced dog meals, please post the link. Thanks for your support everyone!

  1. I was watching this one show about dog food and if you look at the ingredients and stuff see if it's healthy. I heard that dry dog food is bad for dogs and the soft mushy ones are better. You should also give it some regular veggies and fruits too.

  2. if heard this to i actually feed my dogs iams dog food its helps digest easier and also keeps their teeth healthy i have been feeding my dogs this for over 6 years and they haven't been sick of it yet

  3. I have researched & read alot about dog food...my favorite is Go Natural!. ..I also like Orijin & Acana.....the first 2 are by Petcurean & Acana is by Champion.....why cook when you can buy wonderful balanced commercial dog foods....

  4. I feed a high-protein, low-carbohydrate and grain-free kibble (Orijen) that mimics a dog's diet in the wild.  To date, it's been a very safe, very healthy food and it works well for my dogs.

To pick a safe/healthy food, do some research.  Websites like dogfoodanalysis.com give you a good idea of how healthy kibble is and a simple Google search will show if the food has been recalled or not.

If you do the research and decide you, personally, feel more comfortable home-cooking, talk with your local holistic veterinarian and set up a few recipes to make sure your dog isn't missing out on any vitamins or minerals.

  5. Studies have shown that animals raised on cooked meat have problem with their organs and die rather quickly as compared to animals raised on raw meat. In fact, after three generations of housecats who ate cooked meat, all of the cats in the third generation were unable to reproduce and all died under the age of one year.

More than 20% of dog deaths are due to euthanasia at shelters and at vets because of overpopulation. Its not possible then that 80% would be due to dog food, because there isn't 80% left to go around.
