Dog getting swollen by fat?

Question

I have a small 12 year old dog that for the past few days she seems to be getting swollen.It started on her stomach but now it seems to be moving forward to the point where today her face is swollen.It's still all around her body but it just got to a point where she can hardly walk.

She doesn't seem to be in pain,doesn't whine,sleeps well,hardly poops,gets cold and hot all of a sudden.

sound like your little baby needs to see her vet

I would be worried about a severe allergic reaction, retained fliuds, organ failure- lots of not great stuff

the earlier you seek care, the better for your options and her recovery

You may be seeing signs of edema in your dog.  This may be do to a bad heart.  Especially considering her age, why not make an appointment today?  Good luck.

~ A senior dog can start to show many different problems and things that are serious and others that are just changes your dog will go through.  However, I think you would agree that this does not sound like a weird little change, this sounds very serious.  Not all dogs will show pain the same way, so whining or not whining you might not have any idea your dog is in pain.  I would seriously recommend you take your dog to the vet sooner than later.  As your dog gets older, the trips to the vet increase, start getting use to it.

Sounds like you need to take her to the vet. Those are strange symptoms but she could have fluid in her abdomen....If that's where the swelling started. When she's standing, try giving her a gentle jab with a finger on one side and see if you can notice a fluid wave...basically a wave through one side of the belly to the other. Either way, it sounds serious and I wouldn't wait any longer. Anything that would cause fluid in the abdomen is life-threatening. It could be anything from a ruptured spleen to a tumor.
