A ziploc bag of 1 lb of raw boneless, skinless chicken was in the garbage outside (smelled fine - couple of days passed the sell date so I just tossed it), and my 4-yr old beagle managed to find it and devour it. About 5 mins later, he threw up I believe most of the raw boneless chicken (normal when he eats too fast, which I'm sure he did). While I know many advocate giving raw meats to dogs, we've just never done that, he always gets cooked meats and cooked veggies. So I'm concerned if he'll be OK (his system is not used to raw). Also, I'm concerned about salmonella and campylobacteria, both of which are usually on raw chicken. I'm mostly concerned that he might be a carrier to us - I have a 2 yr old daughter that adores the dog (he sleeps with us, lays on the couches, rolls around with the kid, etc. etc.) Do we have something to worry about regarding bacterial infections - either for him or us?
