Dog hair on couch, good ways to get it all off and : ?

I have 3 Shihtzu's, and of course we have plenty of dog hair. I keep their hair shorter, but it is everywhere. Also, can I get some type of house airfilter that takes in the dog hair so it doesn't get all over. I live on a very fixed income, thanks for any couch or other ideas ;)

  1. Invest in a good vaccuum or lint brush.

Whatever you do do not buy the "Carpet fresh with pet hair release".

It has an agent in it that helps the hairs release from the carpet but will also make your dog loose it's hair to.

Found that out the hard way.

  2. They sell something at Walmart that is a roll with stickey tape on it.  It is made to pick up dog hair.

Or a leather couch would work.  That way you could just brush the dog hair off.

  3. As far as removing pet hair from your couch, I find a good weekly vacuuming to be quite effective. Touch up daily with a lint roller (the adhesive ones work great and are very inexpensive).

As far as air filters, most good quality ones will run you hundreds, and most only filter dander and not the actual hair. The best and least expensive thing to do is to sweep and vacuum regularly.

  4. I would say like most a lint roller. They sell large ones that are made for pet hair. Roll the couch daily and make sure to vacuum weekly.

Also for the dogs, try using a brush that removes the undercoat and dead hair. This way they will shed less. And when you bathe them try using a de shedding shampoo.

  5. i would get a furminator its a brush that pretty much eliminates shedding because it gets the undercoat(the part that sheds) whereas most brushes do not. for such small dogs it would be only about 20 dollars which is a pretty good deal considering an air filter would have to be replaced often. as for hair on the couch a simple sticky lint roller is your cheapest option.

  6. I also use a rubber cleaning gloves.Get them wet a little and it comes right off.And you can get them for a dollar.

  7. Well, the best thing is your vacuum cleaner.  No kidding.  Just keep a good bag in it and sweep often.  Double sided tape works good on your furniture.  Sticks to your hand and picks up at the same time.  Good luck,  it's a job that keeps on going!!

  8. Yes, like everyone else said, just use a dog lint roller, that works wonders! (i used it for horse hair one time, and it worked perfect!)

  9. Their are some Airfilter out there that have that on there but it is not going to do the job that well. If you brush them frequently you shouldnt have that much hair on the couch. There is a brush out there that is good for your dogs and the couch you just roll it on there and get rid of them hair but you will have to do this frequently during the week.

  10. Your best bet is to keep a lint roller on hand by the couch. I don't know of any air filters made for dog hair. I keep a lint roller by the couch and by the bed and just lint roll it every evening, doesnt take long.

  11. Try a lint roller or vaccum.
