Home remedies for killing fleas on dogs"

The trick is to completely soap them up, and then keep them saturated for at least 5 minutes. Rinse well, and most of them will be gone, or go away soon. You may have to follow up in a week or so to get rid of any remaining stragglers.

Dog flea shampoo or the dawn dishwashing liquid used in bathing your dog has little or no residual effect and hence it offers little protection from dog fleas after the bath. As such, it is helpful to apply a flea spray on your dog after its bath to kill off or repel fleas. You can easily make a homemade flea control spray by simply mixing the following:

600ml warm water

2 drops of pure lavender essential oil

2 drops of pure cedar wood essential oil

Shake well to mix the oils and then pour into a spray bottle. Spray the mixture of essential oils throughout your dog’s fur. Be careful when treating areas around the head and making sure that you avoid sensitive areas like the eyes. One drawback with the use of essential oil is that it evaporates quickly and hence you would need to reapply frequently to maintain its effectiveness.

Aggressive treatment of your dog by using the above mentioned home remedies for killing fleas on dogs is not sufficient to prevent re-infestation. I hate giving my dogs anything that my dogs dont naturally need, that includes vaccines, heartworm meds, and flea meds.

I use a raw diet and Diatomaceous Earth. Yearly titers for all vaccines and heartworm test to see if any dogs need treatment.

Dawn Dishsoap believe it or not!. I had my dog on a expensive preventive and it didn't work nothing like the Dawn.

don't be stingy. go and buy a flea treatment. you dog will benefit more from. they will go quicker and stay away for longer!

Lots - home remedies have been tried for hundred of years and none of them work very well and a lot harm the dog.

Put a topical liquid like Frontline or Advantage on your dog every single month - this prevents all fleas, their eggs and larvae.

It is the ONLY thing that absolutely works - use Advantix or Advantage Plus to keep fleas and ticks off, both fleas and ticks carry some nasty diseases.

Your dog also needs a monthly heartworm preventative - it's cheap and prevents a disease that eventually kills your dog.

This is not the place to save money by "home remedies" - you need to absolutely prevent fleas, not just kill a few adult ones.

No there aren't.I have a dog who has an allergy to every medication out there I have been from the cheapest to the most expensive.She will have a seizures after every treatment.But the fleas also cause seizures because she bites and scratches until she bleeds so I put the good stuff that lasts the whole month,keep my yard sprayed and my dog mostly in my yard,watch diet closely and hope for the best.Even if you manage to get them off your dog you will get them in your home.The best remedy is from the vet,pricey but works,no problem.
