Dog in season / heat cycle?

my 18 month old dog has come in to season. I also have a 15 week old male dog. I dont want to breed my dog .will i have to seperate them.or is he too young to know what his bits are for.

  1. 15 weeks isn't too young...that's just a week shy of 4 months...most dogs have their first cycle at 6 months and a male can be active at this time as well. I'd separate them just in case.  


  2. If he is 15 weeks he is too young  :)  Do however make sure there are not any strays or neighbor dogs nearby, they can be very crafty! Even through a fence.  

  3. It is possible my vet castrates males at 4 months ( 16 weeks) and a dog in heat can be spayed that would take care of any problems.

    Do realize a male can smell your female in heat up to 5 miles awayso do not let her out unless on a leash and right by your side

  4. dogs are smarter than humans they know what to do natrually. get it spayed duh.
