  1. Take your dog to a vet.

  2. Go buy benefiber and put it in her water.  That stuff is awesome!!!  I've used it for my 2 year old daughter (pediatrician recommended) and recently used it on our Lab/Pit who suffered from the same issue as your dog.  Worked wonderfully.  If that doesn't work, it may be time to visit the vet.

  3. If shes a large dog, then that really sounds like bloat. If her belly starts swelling then most likely it is. If it is bloat then its potentially fatal. She has to get to vet asap!! Bloat killed my saints sister within hours. Bloat is similar to colic in horses aswell. A twist in the gut which prevents things from moving and is incredibly painful. Colic killed my horse. Please take her to vet NOW. If it is what i think, then go QUICKLY

  4. Bring her to the vet!

Sorry if that sounds a little direct, but it just seems like the right thing to do....

I hope your dog is alright!

  5. It sounds like your dog might have Canine Bloat, or Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV). If you want to give your dog the best chance of survival, a visit to the vet is probably necessary. Does your dog try to vomit unsuccessfully(Dry heave)? If so, it is possible her stomach has twisted so that it is impossible to vomit.

If you believe the stomach has not twisted, some people recommend trying to use Gas-X or Beano to help relieve (and prevent) the symptoms.

Aside from that, try to keep your dog from roughousing (or even just rolling), which is suspected to heighten the chance of twisting the stomach, and don't offer food or water for a few hours while you wait to see if the symptoms continue.

    Things to check:

Does your dog seem to be in pain? Is she making noise, arching her back, protecting her abdomen? Most dogs with this condition will exhibit signs of severe gas pains in the abdomen.

Has your dog vomited, or attempted to? Dogs in the advanced stages of GDV will be unable to vomit.

How long has it been since your dogs last bowel movement? Has she passed gas? Monitor to see whether she does either of these things, or seems to be unable to do so.

If you can not take your dog to the vet tonight, I suggest taking her there first thing in the morning if the symptoms continue that long. Call your vet clinic before you leave home, so that they know you are coming and can make preparations for you ahead of time, so that your dog can receive care as soon as possible.

Good luck to you and your pup!

  6. Please take her to the vets, she may have twisted her intestines and be in severe distress.

  7. its most recommended to go to the vet when really anything happens to an animal. she could be pregnant because her belly would be pretty big and hard and when dogs are pregnant they dont walk much.

  8. lol  !!!    i'm so sorry for your dog.   i'm sorry for laughing, but when i read the Q? i was thinking,  " help my dog got a DUI and can't find a lawyer"

something needs to pass , take her to vet asap

  9. look in your phone book the yellow pages and see if there is an 24 hour vet you should have one in or around your area, but this dog needs medical attention and fast.

  10. I would go to the vet imediately! If her stomach is hard she could have gastric dilatation volvulus - where the stomach literally twists over on itself and cuts off blood supply. This is a very serious matter because if she does have GDV then she will need emergency surgery to save her. It may not be GDV but it is better to be safe then sorry. You didn't mention what breed the dog is but GDV is most common is large, deep-chested dogs. I have a book that says you can't wait until tomorrow - you can't even wait an hour from now. Hope this helps! Best of luck to you and your poor girl!

  11. Call or take her to the vet.

  12. feed it some laxatives! lol

or have you considerdered that it could be preganat...if its a girl that is

  13. Take your dog to the vet right away.

  14. my dogs belly is hard to lol but she's pregnant, sorry but if your dog isn't pregnant, it's not normal. She needs to be checked by a vet.

  15. Sounds like she may have a blockage or bloat..  call a vet ASAP!  Both can kill her quickly if not treated!

    ADDED

Refusing to walk is NOT "acting fine"..  she's refusing to walk because she's in pain!

There are vets open this late.  If she has bloat, torsion or blockage, she wont live till morning.

  16. DONT ASK GO 2 DA VET BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! or if you cant, just give her a lil bit of pepto bismol

  17. maybe your dog is pregnant. My dog was lose last night.

  18. Take it to the vet when you have time or give it a verry little dose of laxitive  but dont unless thats what you have to do give her laxitive i just need to ask a question so i dont want to be respoonsible and also im bieng respectfull giving suggestions.

  19. DON'T give your dog laxative, benefiber or any of the other dangerous suggestions here.  She needs to see a vet right away, if you want her to live.  She could have an intestinal blockage, bloat, torsion, internal bleeding, etc.  Go right now.

  20. You have to take your poor dog to the vet.

  21. Anytime your pets act different for no reason, then you have to take them to the Vet.  Early detection will mean less expense.

  22. Call the vet or ER vet....NOWWWW!!!  It could be bloat or torsion which could kill her in an hour.

  23. Okay, calm down and take a few breathes. Okay, know if u think he is constipated take him to the vet IMMEDIATELY!!!  dont wait!!!! my friends dog died from being constipated because they didnt treat him in time and all the p**p builds up and the poo is bacteria and acid and stuff like that. SO TAKE HIM IMMEDIATELY!!!!

  24. I would take her to a vet ASAP. could be more serious than you think.

  25. Take her to the vet immediately. An animal hospital...anything. This could be a sign of a few different things, some of which can cause death.

  26. White Karo Syrup. Let her l**k a couple of teaspoons full right off the spoon. Try getting more liquids in her. If she doesn't drink much, you can add a little can food, or low sodium chicken broth, in her hard food.

  27. you may not have to go to the vet but they can help you if you call them

  28. Get her to a vet -- this could be an emergency!  It could be a stomach inversion which will cause death if not treated.

  29. Look up and after hours emergency vet in your area call them and then let them tell your mother to bring the animal in. This can't wait til tomorrow

  30. Kayla,

It might be alot worse.  She could have a ruptured spleen,  or a perforated colon from something she ate.

Something like this, you need to take her to an all night clinic or she might not be alive in the morning.

I'm realistic about this stuff too by the way.  If this wasn't a real emergency, I wouldn't say it was, but it is.

    -Kevin

by the way - if money is an issue, take her anyway.   Almost no vet will turn you away, and they'll work out a payment plan if you don't have it right now.

  31. maybe she ate something hard 0_0...and its just on her belly and what ur feeling is like a plastic toy or soemthing..
