  1. yes it does sound like it

she should be confined to only one room and not allowed outside where htere could be complictions. Sheshold be given papers to dig in to make a nest. ( I don't use blankets as I've lost pups who have gotten tangled or lost in the blankets)

If nothig appears ( water or pup) within 3 hours you shold take her to the vets and make sure there isn't any complications.

  2. This is my standard answer and meant for information to get resources to you for your dog. Not meant to offend just to save time!

Okay you don't know if dog is in heat, how often, or what to do, or you think your dog is pregnant or you want to breed, etc. etc. etc. ?

If you are asking this question you MUST read up and have material on hand and if your dog gives birth.

This book is a good one.

YOU NEED to get educated and FAST as pregnancies are only 63 days and it GOES fast.Build a list of three books and go pick them up locally or order from my site which whatever. If your dog is birthing or just given birth it is not to late as the best books deal with care afterwards of mom and pups.

Just get some material to have on hand! Find a mentor in real life someone that has gone through this before.

  3. Kind of sounds like it.

  4. She should be in her whelping box, not tucked under the table, so she can be nesting and settling.  If she doesn't start whelping soon, you better take her to the vet to find out why she isn't whelping.  Perhaps she has a puppy stuck in the birth canal, or has uterine inertia or is in some other kind of trouble.

  5. Do you know if her water has broken?  It'll most likely be impossible to tell, since she started this business while int he yard...

Yes, your dog is in labour.  She's having contractions and she should be (nearly) fully dialated if she's been having contractions since yesterday.  If by any chance her water broke on the floor, or on the tiles, and you haven't mopped it up (gargantuanly unlikely) check that the liquid is clear.

If nothing happens and she continues the same over the next 2 hours, call your vet and perhaps you'll need to pay him a wee visit.

  6. Not positive but it sounds like it. Keep her inside and get her into an enclosed area with lots of towels.

  7. Sounds like it. Give her plenty of space, but keep an eye on her to make sure everything goes smoothly.
