  1. In view of the recent health issues (is he on any medication for the fitting?) I'd not hang around - get this lad back to the vet rather than look for answers here!  Whatever the case, panting can be a sign of stress and this lad sounds as if he's well stressed and this needs professional investigation.

  2. Dogs don't have sweat glands like us, they use their mouths hence the panting to cool,

However if the panting as you are suggesting is ''excessive then he is in 'discomfort' .

This could be pulmonary oedema, weight problems(heart) or the beginning of diabetes- the panting is the expelation of ketones.

Only you will know if the dog is acting abnormally and you must discuss these symptoms with the vet,

Your pet will be examined and a dog in discomfort or the next stage distress, needs urgent medical attention.

Try to keep your dog stress free and calm just now, do not over excite it and call your vet when the surgery opens.

If you consider the dog is in distress then an emergency call is required NOW.

All the best to you and pooch.

  3. Dogs pant for alot of reasons.  He could be injured, nervous, have allegic reaction to something or just be hot.  If the humidity is high where you are then that is far worse than it just being hot.

  4. Dogs will often pant when over heated or under stressful conditions or enviornment.

  5. your dog might not be hot he might be panting because he is feeling a bit weird he has had seizures and he might still be getting the symptoms but not having full fits i would get him to your vet as he is obviously in some sort of discomfort

  6. Panting for no obvious reason (heat) is a sign that your dog is in pain.  Please have him evaluated by a vet ASAP.

  7. he might have sme allergy is there anything youve been giving him thats hes not used to?
