My beagle-lab mix has been pushing for like two almost three hours. She pushes like 2 or 3 times every 10 to 20 minutes and still hasn't delivered a puppy yet. Is this normal for dogs?

  1. You should really take her to a vet. If your beagle-lab mix is a small dog make sure that you feed her puppies by hand; Don't let them drink to much from her because I had a female dog and she had four puppies and they drank milk from her. Three weeks after her puppies were born she got this disease ( I'm not so sure what it's called). I took her to the vet and she was almost dying, her eyes were really big and she was having seizures. The vet said this happened because the puppies took all her calcium out of her body by drinking her milk. I don't know how long she was doing that because I was at school. She was in the vet for about two hours and then her little body couldn't take it anymore and she passed away. So please hand feed her puppies with Esbilac ( It's puppy replacement milk).

  2. waaaaaaaaaaaah I think my dog is going into labor to ='( and I'm scared, because idk anything about this ... my mother is the breeder and she is asleep I tried waking her but she won't wake up, but she's alive. It's 1 AM where I'm from. My dog has clear liquids coming out of her female area, did yours have that before going into labor? Email me the answer.

    My vet said that if there wasn't a puppy in the first hour then call the vet ... in your case, I think it would be best to go to the vet.

  3. No it shouldnt go any more than an hour, if its the 1st pup then its stuck if its not the first then it till could be stuck or she is too tired.

    Can you see the sack? Call the vet its been too long, you will loose both mum and the pups if its left.

  4. GET THE DOG TO A 24 EMERGENCY VET!!!

    the puppy's could suffocate if not out in time!!!

    VET NOW...

    in a hour may be too late. NOW

    Please GO!

    For the sake of the pups!

  5. NO IT ISN'T NORMAL, SHE NEED EMERGANCY C-SECTION, SO 24hour emergance hospital or VET TRIPS- ESSENTIAL-Do NOT delay!

    Puppies should come within 1hour of contractions!

    What can cause this

    1. Dead Pup stuck-so can't do a naturally delivery

    2. A live pup, but its stuck & can't get through

    3. A belly fully of Puppys-Too many pup's for her SIZE!!

    If YOU wait any longer to take the dog to the vet, YOU RISK both Mother & puppies DYING!

    1. Problems of the mother:

    small or collapsed pelvis;

    scarce or no dilatation of the vaginal and vulvar tissue;

    uterine inertia (primary or secondary).

    2. Problems of the fetuses:

    extremely big fetuses for the size of the mother;

    wrongly positioned fetuses that have difficulties passing through the v****a;

    fetuses in the body of the uterus at the same time (when the first one still hasn't been expelled and the other one has already started its way out).

  6. no this is not normal.. she should have produced a pup by now. She may have a pup stuck in the birth canal.. take her to a vet NOW!

  7. That disn't happen with ours but then we have goldens. I think if you don't have a mentor to ask you should definately call the vet. AFterwards look on my profile and you can follow link to my store and look for books on whelping then go to barnes and noble and get a really good book.

    Meanwhile call your vet and maybe offer her some broth to keep up energy... oops nix the broth cause if she needs c-section or something you don't want to mess with food on tummy.

    Good luck.

  8. VET, NOW!

    You can very likely not only have the first puppy die now, but the entire litter, as well as mom is at risk now.

    She needs veterinary intervention immediately.

  9. Call IMMEDIATELY or TAKE TO VET/Urgent care.......Immediately!!! Urgent, now! She is exhausted and needs assistance.

  10. The poor thing. This is exactly why people who aren't educated in dog breeding should not be breeding their pets.

    If you have any questions you should be asking your vet, not God only knows who on Y!A. How do you know whether the people who are replying have any knowledge in this area.

    This is why it costs a sh*t load of money to bring a litter of pups into this world, care for them and find them good forever homes.

  11. No go to a vet NOW!! If she is in labor she should produce a puppy by no longer than 2 hrs as a rule. If it's been to long she can tear her uterus and cause internal bleeding, the fist pup could be stuck and cause them all to die. There are so many things that can be going horribly wrong. Good luck and if they do a c-section have her spayed.

  12. I know! How about going to the vet? Wouldn't that be good?

  13. If this is her first litter it could take a long time for the first pup to come. Just keep a close eye on her and if she is still pushing and no pups by morning you should call a vet ,

  14. you need to take her to the vet - she could have a breech pup stuck in the birth canal or other problems could be going on and she may need a cesarian section

    but when ever something happens that doesnt seem normal, then its probably not and its time to call in the vet.

    I wont though in my thoughts on spaying and neutering because i think its for the best, but do some research and get a good book

  15. No! This ****** needs veterinary attention NOW. If you leave it without a puppy appearing for that length of time, your ****** is going to be exhausted and you run the risk of losing the whole litter. She probably needs to have a C.Section and the sooner the better.

  16. No,it isn't normal.Once a dog starts to push,the puppy should come out quite quickly.It may be too big for her.You need to take her to a vet for a C-Section,and have her spayed in the process to prevent this happening again.

    Funny Bunny - The disorder is called eclampsia,and it is caused by low blood calcium,which can be prevented by making sure the mother dog gets plenty of calcium while she is nursing.She should eat puppy food,and get some yogurt and cottage cheese every day to replenish her calcium.A multivitamin for dogs is a good idea,too.It is best for the pups to nurse from the mother dog,and if any symptoms of eclampsia are seen ( tremor,restlessness,fever,collapse),the dog should immediately be taken to a vet for intravenous calcium.You can give the dog a couple of Tums and some milk as an emergency treatment until you get to the vet.

  17. No its not. VET NOW.
