  1. Your dog is completely different on another dogs terriroty than it's own. They tend to be submissive when on another dog's because they know it does not belong to them and they are unsure of their surroundings. But on their own property they can be very territorial and aggressive. I would suggest having the other dog come over, both on leashes, and see how they interact with one another. Never just assume either dog will be okay

  2. it really depends on your dog.  i know my dog thinks that all areas belong to all dogs and could care less who is where so long as she gets to play... but my old dog thought everything was hers no matter what and could get nasty.  best to be safe and introduce both on leashes and see how they react.

  3. No always. Some dogs are submissive no matter what and don't mind a more dominant dog taking over but others will start a fight over their territory. I would be carefully allowing strange dogs on your property as you never know which category your dogs fits and he might allow one but not another.

  4. When my dogs 'plays' at the neighbours he is the perfect dog. He plays with their dog and shares everything. They will even drink together.

They don't bring their dog over here anymore. "Walker" has issues with home turf. He would herd their dog into a corner of the yard and keep it there. He wasn't mean or vicious about it but he made it clear to the other dog that the corner of the yard was its spot, and the rest of the yard was "Walker's".

  5. I would introduce a new dog first away from your dog's turf (and that can be the whole neighborhood, depending on your dog). If they already know each other but just haven't been to your yard yet, introduce them out front or down the block, etc. first. Parallel walk with them for a bit in your neighborhood before going into your yard/house. Then keep dogs on loose leads and watch carefully. Drop leads pretty quickly if all seems ok. Remove leads only when you are very sure they are fine.

Watching for calming signals from both dogs can help a lot in determining how well things are going:
