Dog saving & caring for a newborn baby?!?

Did anyone else hear about that story in the news? A dog saves a newborn from dying! A mother abandoned her newborn baby and a dog that just had puppies found it, took it, and nurtured it until the police found it hours later! The police said that the baby would have died if it weren't for the this dog to keep it warm!!! I just cannot believe that even dogs are smarter then some people out there!! PEOPLE IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE BABY THEN THE HOSPITALS OR POLICE DEPARTMENTS WILL TAKE IT NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!! My brother and sister-in-law just had a baby last week, and I cannot even imagine that baby in any kind of harm. All I can think about it keeping that baby safe! Have a heart people...

Yes, it was in australia, and the mother was only 14, I read she thought the baby was stillborn and kinda had a breakdown, that's why there aren't any charges against her. Not that it's a reason, but not having been in that situation myself, I feel unqualified to judge. I don't know if they have safe haven programs down there or not.

That being said, being a mom is a scary thing. There was a girl who was pregnant but didn't know it who lived in my hometown, she had the baby while her mom was at work, and left it outside the apartment in the stairwell for someone to find. Turns out she watched for her mom to head up the street before placing the baby there and it was only there for a little while, and grandma ended up adopting the baby after her daughter was declared incompetent by the courts. Again, another young mother. It's scary, and stupid, but people are always so negative to young mothers that it's no wonder they are scared crapless and don't know where to turn. Safe haven has since been instituted in that area and it's working.

Yes, I heard that.  Its sad that a dog can show more compassion to a baby than its own mother could.

It is truly sad when dogs can act better then humans! If i found that baby with the dog i would have taken the baby to the hospital and taken the dog home and made him a big steak for saving that baby! The dog is a hero and i hope they find the mom and arrest her!

i know...i find it difficult to believe that animals are lower than the human species. but humans can be stupid because the lack of thinking!!! my son is 7 weeks old and i could never leave him. if i even picture him alone...i get upset. i hope the dog and her puppies were brought to a safe home. she was a real hero!!

yes i heard about that and i think it's awesome . they said that poor baby would have died if the dog hadn't cared for it that night since it was about 30 degrees. i hope that dog andd it's puppies have a great life now:)

I agree with you on this one 100% !!! I sure hope they find the low life that did this. Thank God for this wonderful dog.

I haven't met a dog I didn't like-unless some human messed with it.  Can't say the same for humans.
