Question:

Dog throwing up chunks of bone and yellow bile?

My dog had heartworm treatment about three weeks ago. She's due to see the vet tomorrow for her oral treatment. But today she just isn't feeling well at all...moping around and acting sickly. No fever. She just threw up about an inch long piece of bone along with a small amount of yellow foamy bile. And then she's perfectly okay again. There's no blood. I just called the vet and I'm waiting on a callback after they pull up my file....but what is your take on this? She's eaten bones all her life and has never had a problem with it (even though I've warned the people feeding her that bones are dangerous), and she's eaten bones for a long time without problem. Apparently they were from pork ribs. Any clue of what I should do from now? Anything I can do before the vet calls back?

  1. Just do what your already doing...keeping a close eye on her. If anything changes, call the vet or go in early. Vets should be ok with you coming in a little early. Good luck!

  2. Dogs can eat bones many times and not have troubles. Some dogs can eat a bone once and immediately have troubles. Some dogs eat bones and don't suffer from it for months ... I would just take her to the vet and let them know what's going on.
