Dog vomiting blood? Any tips?

Hi I'm taking my dog to the vet later today, but I had a question. I dont have enough for anything more than an exam and maybe some medicine and I don't qualify for credit. Plus I don't think my vet is open to us paying later. So, I hope it's just he ate something bad.

My dog is vomiting, It started 3 or 4 days ago. He vomited up his food. I thought he just ate something so I didn't mind. Then when I fed him again, he vomited again a couple hour later. I kept him off food all night and morning. I usually feed him around 8 or 9 in the morning, but held off until 12. Then fed him his regular meal. Several hours later he vomited again but it wasn't as much and it was a darker brown color. I thought that maybe I just fed him too much too soon, so I waited to the next morning on Sunday and fed him bit by bit a little of his food. To my knowledge he didn't vomit. Next meal time I fed him a bit more, and by dinner I gave him a whole meal. I thought everything was fine, until this morning he wanted to go out 3 times and ended up vomiting again this morning. He vomited the darker brown liquid but again it was less. Then he vomited the final time and it wasn't dark brown but when I was picking it up there was a streak of red (possibly blood).

Has this happened to anyone elses dog before? and any pointers or suggestion what it might be. I saved the vomit and found some more vomit from a couple days ago because it was dry, and saved that too.

Some extra information: my dog has idiopathic epilepsy and used to have seizures about every 3 months. He had another one a week or two ago. I got him on a new dog food called delifresth 6 months ago and his seizures were less. hasn't had one since may or beginning of april.

  1. Are there any other vets around you?  If so, you can call them and see if they have a sliding rule for people with less money or if they do payment plans.  I am guessing your dog is seriously ill (stomach, intestine or overall digestive problems) and really needs to see a vet.

  2. parvo

  3. You need to give his stomach a good rest. If he is still pooping i would not be horribly concerned about a blockage. He needs to be off all food for 24 hours then make him bland food rice is good. give him that for a day. Then feed him tiny meals 6 times a day you have to let his tummy rest and heal.

  4. he may have virus C or B

or he ate glass or somethink hurt his stomac

  5. I haven't had my dog do that before, but it sounds like the brown vomit may have contained old blood (blood turns brown after a while).  If your dog is vomiting blood, that means his intestinal tract is bleeding somewhere.  You still need to take him to the vet and find some way to make periodic payments on the bill.

  6. um HELLO???? ur dog is vomiting BLOOD! get him to the vet! NOW!
