If I only take out dogs which are insured via owners pet insurance is that ok or do I have to be insured???

All i wanna do is make a bit extra money by dog walking in my neighbourhood, surely i should be ok considering i am not a business

  1. Yes you should be covered for Public Liability really. Call a local broker.

  2. I think you would be advised to find out about liability insurance cant say for certain but shouldn't cost you a fortune contact a good insurance company and get a quote

  3. You definitely need some sort of liability insurance.  If you are a minor, ask your parents if they have umbrella insurance, and see if you are covered under it.  The pet insurance some people have on their dogs would be of no value if you did something that caused harm to a pet.

  4. Talk to your agent about your homeowners/renters insurance.  Depending on the coverage in place, you may have some coverage there already.

  5. Do you have anything you could lose?

Do your parents have anything they could lose?

One bite, one injury from someone who steps aside and twists an ankle, one twit, one crooked lawyer, and your time in court will be expensive.

Call a CPCU, listed in the insurance section of your phone book, for an answer.

The CPCU is a professional designation for property and casulty underwriters.  They are chartered.  One of them is where you can go for an adequate answer.
