i have posted a question here yesterday regarding a dog i rescued 3 days ago...well i took him to the vet for a check up and his left back leg has been broken and is 3cm shorter than his other 3 legs, he is a small sized dog so the doctor said it wouldnt be much of a problem, has anyone ever had anything like that and is it a problem? like can i take him for walks and for how long because i dont want to hurt his leg.he moves around just fine but he is not able to bend the leg...i guess its broken where the joint is...any advice?

Thank you

  1. There was a "found dog" that came into the vet clinic several years ago with the same problem.  He was a Llasa Apso mix that had been severely injured probably by a car.  He was elderly, and no owner ever came forward to claim him. I kept him until he died 3 years later.  The shorter back  leg didn't seem to hurt him or slow him down too much at all.  He was over ten when we found him, and his hip/pelvis had been broken.  But he did recover and lived a happy life for the last few years of his life. He did have a noticeable limp. Because he didn't put weight on that leg, he didn't seem to have a lot of pain.  If your dog uses that shorter leg, she may need some pain killers.
