Dog with sensitive stomach and diarrhea.?

she gets episodes of diarrhea every couple months. she has been on purina for 4 years but my vet suggested iams or dads. which is better for a very sensitive stomach?

all dogs are different so try both i would start with a small bag of one for about a month and if you dont see any improvement in the month then go to the other. hope this helps

Neither to be honest.

Use california natural made by natura never had a recall like purina.

Its made with special ing. for dogs with sesative stomachs.

Iams has bad ing. so does dads. I would suggest a more natural thing like california natural.

Feed a high quality dog food like Merrick, Wellness, Solid Gold, Blue Buffalo, and so on.  Most comapnies are now having a sensitive stomach formula to.  Stay away from food like Purina, Dads, IAMS, (they are full of fillers like corn and wheat)....

i had a dog like this, for 11 years.i ended up cooking rice(in a rice steamer) and cook hard boiled eggs :1 egg for breakfast+rice.

at nite:steamed fish+rice.

finally, Wellness made a fish and sweet potato diet(this was a good while ago) he ate this food, and was OK for a while.

Then of course, wellness changed the food(something had changed, he got the runs again).My vet also said:buy digestive enzymes from a health food store!That helped!

Try the enzymes, and Wellness CORE! no grain diet.

d**k van Patten's Natural Balance has fish and sweet potato kibble,or duck and potato kibble:these are for sensitive dogs.

keep the dog on dry foods i would say. like with humans we eat crackers and drink 7up or something, but i would figure dry foods would do the trick. also, have you tried science diet? its healthy but it depends on your dog liking it or not.

It may well be the Purina that has caused the stomach problems. Iams is not really any better. I have never heard of Dads. I would reccomend Wellness, Prarie, Merrick, EVO, Orijen or another top quality brand.

It may be a lot for you to cope with but have you considered making her food yourself? My dogs aren't keen on tinned food and so i give them either what i have for dinner or chicken and rice, raw and cooked veg, fish and rice, dog biscuits. Its hard at times, especially when cash is tight but they all thrive on it, have never been seriously ill, don't suffer upset stomachs and have beautiful coats. Anythings worth a try where your dog's concerned isn't it and maybe you'll both benefit from this, i know how hard it is on your emotions when your dog is poorly. You can only try it and if it doesn't work then go back to the drawing board - by the way, a hard-boiled egg is great for stopping the runs! Best of luck to you both.

make sure she is not sneaking a snack when your not around , like eating bunnie poo or junk food dropped by people or kids,i got a dog that gets diarrhea if she eats 1 cheerio
