Question:

Dogfight between a MiG-29 & F/A-18 jets?

Assuming equal levels of pilot skill and no missiles - that is - purely a fight based on aircraft maneouvreability, speed & G-tolerance, who would win a dogfight between a MiG-29 Russian fighter and the F/A-18?

Which is aeronautically superior?

Thanks!

  1. i reakon u mean the newer super hornets? but I'd still want a MIG-29 in a dog fight. they have the vector thrust as one advantage

  2. The Mig-29 is "newer" than the F/A-18 - I am talking about the design, not the upgrades the military has done lately (if any).

So, in a classic dogfight I would bet on the Mig-29:

    - better speed

    - better angle of attack

    - faster command response

BTW, the G-Tollerance only affects the pilots, as all airplanes can take a lot more than the humans in them, so in our case if the pilots are matched as skills and training, the Mig-29 should win. SHOULD but nobody knows...

  3. Russian aircrafts have better speeds while American aircrafts have better computers.

Everything has some advantages and limitations.

It all depends on the pilot.

  4. The MiG has far better maneouvreability but i'm guessing the FA-18 has better speed, then again both r capable of 1500mph+ and in a dogfight its how manueurablve u r.

so i'd say the MiG wins
