  1. I flew with my dog many times. It's best to protect their ears if possible and I would recommend staying below 12,500.

Also, you may need to restrain them if they are hyperactive dogs.

  2. I take my little mixed mutt with me all the time in my Aeronca Chief, and occasionally in other airplanes.  She is very smart and knows what to expect.  She enjoys every minute of every flight, except she gets pretty nervous during crosswind landings.  But she's a great Doggie.

She wears a full harness, rather than a collar, and the harness makes her much safer in the event of a bad outcome.  I secure the harness to the seat belt attach points with two loose bungee cords so she can lie down or sit up.  Unless I start a crosswind landing, she sits up and watches out the side window.

It's a good idea to do some "dry runs" at the airport and let your dog get accustomed to the sounds and smells of airplanes.  Also try to get a test ride with someone else flying, so you can hold your dog and make sure he/she is not afraid.

Always carry some spray cleaner/disinfectant and a roll of paper towels.  I can guarantee that even the best mannered and intelligent dog will eventually puke or lose control of one of the orifices.

Lots of people take their dogs with them in their airplanes.  It is an everyday event, and easy to work out.

    Have fun.

  3. No rules Part 91, just common sense:  watch the controls (some dogs just go to sleep in the back, other get hyper), there is somewhere a set of plan to make dog earmuffs for their hearing, they can handle about the same altitude we can.

  4. dogplane

  5. From a dogs life to a plane life (no pun intended).

There are no rules against taking you dog on a flight in your aircraft. Just let him fly as safely as you would.

  6. there is nothing saying you cannot. I have a customer who flies in about once a month, and he brings his lab.

I would say it makes sense to secure the animal in case of turbulence or emergency situations
