  1. I hope the doctors note will help and you will be able to have a dog. There is nothing wrong with trying to do something to help your situation.

    Why would you regret it?

If you do plenty of research,  choose the right kind of dog for your home and to suit your needs.   Some dogs need more excercise than others,  some  are more hyper and need lots of space so consider carefully before choosing.   e.g  a huge great dane in a small apartment would be silly.

But really a dog can bring a lot of joy and happiness into your life,  they can be healing and comforting.  I think it is an excellent idea.

Good luck and I wish you well.

  2. you wont regret it coz that dog was there for you through thick and thin

  3. No. You are depressed! You NEED a dog. But I hope a note will help. I would be depressed if I couldn't have my pups either. Good luck. You deserve this.

  4. If your depression is so severe it would be considered a disability, then you would qualify for an emotional support animal.  Generally, people with disabilities are permitted to keep emotional support animals even in housing where pets are not normally permitted.

Emotional support animals can be a great treatment tool for many with mental illness, but not for others.  A discussion with your therapist should help you work out whether you are truly disabled and whether an animal buddy can be of medical benefit to you, as well as whether you are capable of providing the care a pet needs.

If your therapist and/or psychiatrist agree that you are disabled and that an emotional support animal is a necessary support for you medically, they can write a letter indicating this for you to take to your landlord to get an exception to a "no pets" rule.

Example letters and additional information are available on the website listed below.
