Question:

Dogs and laminate flooring?

We are thinking about putting laminate flooring in place of our carpet because it is destroyed by pets stains. We got two puppies within two months from each other and they had a hard time becoming potty trained. The problem is our Yorkie dog still isn't completely potty trained, I think she gets scared easily and has accidents but is there any way to seal the laminate flooring so the urine wont seep through the cracks where the paneling meets?

  1. Had the same problem and came up with the same idea. Shopped around for the best laminate for the problem, and found it. It was a bit more expensive than the other brands, but it worked. It is DuPont brand laminate. In five days time, my wife installed this in two bedrooms, living room, hall way and entry way. The accidents don't seep through the seems, and because there is no sent left after clean up, the dogs stopped trying to mark over each other, and now both are happily house trained.

  2. We use Abzorb Mats in hi-traffic and pet areas here. You can buy it by the roll and cut to size / shape.

More info is here (no affil, so check with them  for pricing, etc):

    Cheap and sturdy stuff!!

  3. Not really. Some floor sealers will help but with dogs there claws are going to scratch it,and dogs have trouble walking on slick surfaces
