Dogs de Bordeaux breeders and owners alike?

My friend has a 13 week old Dogs de Bordeaux pup who he is feeding on Eukanuba as recommended by the breeder. She has started to have really bad diarrhea and has a few spots on the underside of her rear quarters. Is this the best food to feed her on or do you feed you Dogs de Bordeaux on something completely different.

Please advise on food available in the UK?

  1. contrary to answerer #1 I have used eukanuba and it seems to be great.  its primary ingredient is meat, depending on what flavor you purchase, and my dog has never had diarhhea while on that food. if the breeder recommended it, its probably because thats what he or she uses and has had success with.  its never good to change a puppies food abruptly, so if you do decide to switch food, do it slowly, over a time span of at least 1 week.  but keep in mind puppies can have diarrhea due to a number of other causes such as parasites, worms, disease, infection, and  stress (i.e. being taken from mom and placed into your home)  hopefully this helped.  good luck!

  2. i personally do not care for eukenuba at all, as for foods i do like check the ingredients... look for food that had the 1st ingredient listed as some type of meat. most list corn meal or other c**p those foods are no good

  3. Let me start by saying I worked in a vet hospital and none of the thee Dr's I worked for ever would recommend Eukanuba or Iams to anyone. They said it is junk food.  I bred English Bulldogs and always have a house full of about 5 dogs. I have tried every single quality brand food out there beside Blue Buffalo.  All I was doing was wasting my money!

My dogs had runny stools, digestive problems, itchy skin, poor looking coats.etc.. Once I spent all my money in testing my dogs to make sure they had no problems or allergies to the food my  vet  told me to try switching to something lower grade and not a "premium" brand food. I thank her everytime I have my dogs in for their shots because after I switched all to Pedigree I have never had any problems.   Good firm stools, no itchy skin  and beautiful shiny coats on my Bulldogs and my Bordeaux.

Maybe try Pedigree after you have had the vet rule out any medical poblems it may have.
