Dogwood tree help?

I planted a Dogwood tree in April. We had really hot weather following that but I made sure to water the tree every day. Now it has dried up leaves on it. Is this normal the first time you plant them? Is it dead or will it come back?

you might want to try working some blood-meal  (food for the roots )  in the ground  around the tree or maybe mulch to help keep moisture  but none on the trunk of the tree. this might help bring it back miracle grow also make a fertilizer for trees
