  1. its depends but not iin a month its can take several months or a 4 to 5 depend son you and on the shcool the longer it takes however and harder it is the more it will mean when you get it

  2. The "Average" time is 1-3 years for blue, 5-7 for purple, 7-10 for brown, and 10+ for black. That, imo "was" the average. Nowadays, depending on the coach and the student it seems to be a lot quicker. Some places are belt factories, while others take longer than average. If you are athletic and catch onto stuff quickly you can probably get your blue in a year or less. One of THE most important things about BJJ is mat time. You need to go at least 3 days a week, and if you want that blue sooner, you might wanna think about 5 days a week. I personally go 4, and rarely but sometimes will go for the fifth day, but just open mat.

  3. Not quite sure but I'm told Black takes around 10yrs in a good dojo don't know the ranking of blue belt in bjj as compared to Japanese jiu-jitsu but if similar then maybe 5yrs just my guess and I'm probably very wrong but I'd check out the ranking system and syllabuses and ask your local club given that you train at least twice a week :)***

  4. OK guy here is the skinny. Were you can get a black in most at two years the average in BJJ is 9yrs. The average fot blue is two years but I've seen it done in one. good luck and I hope this don't discourage you.

  5. why does it matter.  You, like so many other people, are looking at it all wrong.  Who cares how long it takes.  Just train and be the best you can be. Period.  If you just want a blue belt, go buy one.  You can get it in 5 minutes.

  6. BJJ is one of the few arts left that doesn't hand out belts based on tenure. It is hard to say how long it will take you to EARN it.

If you just want the title, your taking BJJ for the wrong reason. Buy the belt, and save yourself some work. And what color your belt is may not be an accurate indication of how good of a fighter you are. What the belt means is that you know a number of techniques someone at that level is expected to know, and can execute them. Which sounds good, but a guy who knows half the techniques but can execute them better than the other guy would be better off.
