Doing a PGCE in Geography.My degree is Combined Honours Geography/sport. Can sport be used as a 2nd subject?

I am due to start a Secondary PGCE in Geography in the Autumn. The minor part of my combined honours degree is in sport. Do some schools use other teachers to help out with PE , as emergency cover etc.. I Love Geography but would love to help with PE even if extra ciricular.

It depends on the school and the position you apply for. Some schools may not only use you as PE cover but may timetable you some PE classes. When applying for a position make sure you state your preferences regarding this :)

No problem with this, loads of Geog. teachers also teach PE.

whether you teach PE will depend on the timetabling needs of the school you are appointed at.

To maximise you chances try to observe PE regularly in your placement school and also ask to teach PE as a portion of your timetable

Even if you dont get it in your timetable they will be glad of your support with clubs and teams.
