  1. usually it would mean a king who is very young, or at least younger than the other kings around.

Historically, there was someone was referred to as "the Young King," but he's not on the official rolls of English monarchs.  Henry, the Young King, was the son of Henry II of England & Eleanor of Aquitaine (brother to Richard Lionheart & John).  He was crowned during his father's lifetime, but also died before him.

  2. Not regent, that would be the adult relative who takes responsibility for a young king.

A young king would refer to any king who was young at the time of the action, especially a king who is not yet fully king, under a regent, not yet an adult.

Louis XIV was king at the age of 4.  Needless to say, he wasn't exactly ready to rule on his own.  He did not become full king until the age of 16, the age of majority at that time.  He was often referred to as "our young king..."

  3. A young king would be a king who is a minority (under the age of 18). I believe the right word would be a "Child King" or "Child Monarch." These terms were used to refer to Kings and Queens who were forced onto the throne at a very early age.

Note: A regent from the Latin regens "who reigns", is a person selected to act as Head of state (ruling or not) because the ruler is a minor, not present or debilitated.

  4. I agree with Tony W in as much as Tutankhamen has been referred to as the boy king or young king before.

  5. regent?

  6. Already the king? Just a young one.

  7. Tut (as in Tutankhamen)

  8. It could be Regent I suppose.
