  1. How about tackling the fact that alot of kids are STILL LEFT BEHIND.  School districts have gotten crafty at hiding these kids and pushing them thru so they become other peoples problems.

I've discovered this from personal experience in the past few weeks when I moved my own child from  Special Ed in one state to another and the old school refused to give me his records, evaluations, and test results.  It turned out they had failed to do the tests madated by law, and were simply shoving him thru school with as little effort and cost as they could get away with.

No child left behind has been turned into "hide 'em well so you can get money"

  2. Go to the "accesscenter".  I have done a paper on NCLB and this is a really good site.

  3. Try sites such as:

    surestart.gov.uk

    dfes.gov.uk

    direct.gov.uk

also local council sites, social care services sites etc.

    Key Points:

    -Why was NCLB started?

-What is the basis of this?

    -What is the aim?

    -How will it be achieved?

-How can people involved in children and families support this?

Then look at whether you think the paper is supportive or doomed to failure :) try to explore the values and beliefs behind it..look at what they say and what this shows.

  4. first signed into law by GW (Elementary and Secondary Education Act - ESEA) later changed to IDEA http://www.ed.gov/policy/elsec/leg/esea0...

look at the statement of purpose - laudable, but do-able, I think not - no funding is provided.

    IDEA reauthorized 2004 http://www.wrightslaw.com/news/idea2002....

more from Bush in 2007 about reauthorizing again when we folks at schools implemented the changes from 2004 for the first time in fall 2007

How can we know changes are needed now when we have just employed changes set forth in the 2004 reauthorization?
