I'm doing an essay to support or refute the statement made by Bertrand Russel which says, "“Most of the work that most people have to do is not in itself interesting, but even such work has certain advantages.” Although, I agree with this statement, I'm always interested in other people's opinion. I would support this because many successful people started off with work they didn't like, it made them a humbler person, it helped them to really feel good about themselves to struggle and hang in there until something they really wanted came along. Also, there's many people working at temp agencies doing work, they don't really like, but if they hang in there and do d**n good at their job, a lot of times they find better jobs by having that opportunity to show the employers how good they are at what they do. What is your opinion?

  1. I agree with that statement.  The percentage of people who hate their jobs is high, I have heard.  Most of work is not something you would do if you didn't have to. That's why it's called "work."  Much of it is boring and repetitious, stressful and tiring.  But any activity is better than none.  Lay around and you'll probably die early.  We are designed to function, to thing, talk, move. When we don't, we deteriorate.  And with the right attitude, you can learn doing just about any job.  And, as you pointed out, with good work often get ahead.
